Going All In

One of my fondest memories of my mom was when a herd of friends were over (Our house was that house on the street) playing poker and John Ed or Joan called looking for Si. ?My mom shyly confessed that all of the 5th or 6th graders were playing poker to the pastor or his wife. ?They didn’t care, but it was just funny seeing her feel like the kid caught with her hand in the cookie jar.
So I’ve played poker for a long time yet I’ve never have gotten into the Texas Hold Em craze. ?However, I love that a player is allowed to go “All In” and they bet everything they have left on the one hand. ?Either they have a great hand and they know they should win, they have a good hand and they hope they will win or they have a bad hand and hope everyone else folds.
It’s a risky strategy but when done right, it can pay off. ?After returning from a great weekend retreat with the NNYM staff and their spouses in Seattle (Tonja wasn’t able to join us because of school) and doing the paperwork this week to cash out the limited retirement that we had, I feel like I’m declaring to the world and all my friends, “We’re going all in!”
If no other money comes in we should be okay for a couple of months or so. ?Some money has come in and other has been promised so it’s not that dire. ?I am thrilled with the support everyone has given us but God is who we are trusting to bring things together as I labor and pray for his energy as we go all in!
Proud of you bro! It’s not much of a gamble when God gives you all four aces and your playing with his money! GREAT website too!
