Big Answer to Prayer

While talking with a hospice patient a few months ago I shared, “God knows the desires of our hearts & occasionally He answers the prayers of our hearts, even when we don’t utter them.” I said this because something happened in her life that she was thrilled for but honestly didn’t have the nerve to pray about it because it seemed so crazy.

I think God heard the prayer of her heart though she never said it with her lips.  Yesterday, God answered a prayer of my heart and the prayers of many of you but in a way that we could not have imagined.  I was able to give my two week notice to Sears today.  I have been very grateful for my job with Sears because it’s helped our family for over a year  but working there meant I couldn’t work on ministry things.

My last day at Sears is a result of the hospice I work for, needing to have me be “on call”.  I still only work 13-20 hours a week at the hospice but now I’ll be paid a certain amount per day to be available when I’m not in the office.  This amount, over  the month, is more than what I’ve been making at Sears with the end of the holiday season and having less hours per week.

The best part is it’ll free up 40-60 hours per month for me to work on more things for the National Network of Youth Ministries and Simply Soul Care.

It start’s March 1.

Thanks for all of your prayers for us through this season.

  8. Len,

I like your attitude of appreciation for Sears.

This morning I was reading another blog by another brother. The negative comments about the job inclluded the name of the company. I thought it was a poor way to express who we are as followers of Christ.

    Glad God Answered your prayer.

“Is it true that we ought to live a selfless life? The answer is yes, in practice. Along side of this truth how much more in our prayers?” I was reminded that I am living somewhat of a selfless life but in my prayers I often turn to my needs.

The true meaning of prayer is for the one who prays to pray for the fullfillment of the will of the one to whom he prays. Prayer is the occasion wherein to express our desire for God’s will. Prayer means that our will is standing on God’s side. Aside from this, there is no such thing as prayer.

God initiated prayer comes from people who spend time with God. This person allows his will to enter into GOD’S WILL, his thoughts enter into GOD’S THOUGHTS. Are you burdened by the death of even one man? If a soul dies and it disturbs you, you will know that God’s heart has become yours. Are you burdened by one of God’s children who fall into sin? That is God’s heart. (paraphrased)

Thanks for your service to the Body.
