Thanks for your continued prayers.

June resulted in five new monthly supporters, three of which have already sent in their first donation.

It has been a lot of fun working with Sean Buvala. He is coaching me in a few skills that will benefit the work I do with NNYM. Sean offers a free storytelling course via email. No matter what you do, this skill can help you. I hope many of you take advantage of this free training.

Prayer Update

Thanks for your prayer support. Whether you pray for us and this ministry everyday, occasionally or only when you open up this update, you are the backbone of what happens.

1. I am flying to CO in a few hours to be with a pack of wild youth workers for two days to chat and dream about the 2011 Simply Youth Ministry Conference. It is an honor to be invited to contribute to this discussion. Pray for wisdom as we cover the agenda but also pray for connections with friends and not yet friends to be formed during this 2 day dash.

2. Tonja is a Texas Tech Graduate and looking for a job. Pray for discernment and speed as she begins the job search. On a bright note, Lubbock has around a 4.3% unemployment rate, which was the lowest in Texas, last I heard. If you know of anything, let us know.

3. Around 30 people or churches currently support us and we are around 40% of our needs. The good news is there are at least 20 others who have said they want to support us regularly. There are others who are considering supporting us but 20 have said yes to regular support but have not been able to start, yet. Pray that those people would know what the right amount is and start giving to support this ministry.

4. Watch this video on Youth Ministry Awesomeness and you can begin praying for me as I prepare to serve as a convention pastor for both of the National Youth Workers Conventions.

BIG Prayer Update

I checked our giving for May and so far we have $200 in the account. We always receive more at the end of the month but this is a ton less than normal.Even with the second job with the Census (it is very temporary) we are around $1,000 short for the 15th.

Please pray for our financial needs to be met.

If you have not been thinking about supporting us do not worry, this is a prayer update and we value your prayer support as God provides for us.

On a bright note, Tonja is graduating this Saturday and we have tons of family joining us this week to celebrate.

I look forward to when financial needs will not be as pressing prayer requests, but for now, they are.

Prayer Update

This has been the hardest month for us since joining the NNYM. Like many of you, our current hardships involve the lack of money. God has been faithful through our supporters and now we are looking for him to be faithful in by providing asecond job for me.? I would rather have a second job and keep doing this ministry rather than not do this ministry.

I hope the second job is a season rather than a lifestyle, but if it is a lifestyle, so be it. I am committed to this ministry because the needs are so huge in every aspect of my job

Here are some encouraging things that have happened this past month..

I consoled a youth worker who was fired and helped him form a game plan for his next steps.
I co-led three seminars at the Simply Youth Ministry Conference and served on their Ministry in the Valley care team.
I am going to be a regular contributor to Group Magazine. I will write about networking, being better together, in their Tools section.
I was also asked to be a convention pastor at both of the 2010 National Youth Worker Conventions by Youth Specialties.

Pray for:

1.???????? $1,500 more per monthly supporters.

2.???????? A second job that will allow me to provide for my family.

3.???????? A job for Tonja after graduation.

Therefore we do not lose heart.. . So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Father God,

I know Len has a heart to minister to youth workers. Be with him this weekend as he ministers to hurting youth workers. Give him the right words of encouragement as he ministers in this special way. May he be amazed at all You accomplish through him.

At the Simply Youth Ministry Conference

I’m at the Simply Youth Ministry Conference with 2,500 youth workers.

Friday: ?I’m ?co-leading a panel discussion and group interaction on ?”You are Not Alone: Help, Hope and Healing for Burned-Out Youth Workers” from 2:30pm – 4:00pm

Friday: ?I’m ?co-leading a panel discussion and group interaction on ?”You are Not Alone: Help, Hope and Healing for Burned-Out Youth Workers” from 10:00pm -?11:30pm

Saturday: The NNYM team is facilitating the workshop “We’re Better Together! Building Community with Other Youth Workers” and I have a small role with this from 2:30pm – 4:30pm.

Saturday:?I’m hosting the regional dinners to meet and connect with youth workers from Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana from 5:00pm – 6:30pm.

Sunday:?The NNYM team is facilitating the workshop “We’re Better Together! Building Community with Other Youth Workers” and I have a small role with this from 2:30pm – 4:30pm.

Sunday: I’m hosting the regional dinners to meet and connect with youth workers from Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana from 5:00pm – 6:30pm.

Monday,?I’m ?co-leading a panel discussion and group interaction on “Down But Not Out: Surviving Being Reduced, Downsized or Let Go” from 9am – 10:30am.

I’m also part of the “Ministry in the Valley” Care Team during the entire conference. Which means, the conference organizers direct hurting youth workers to me and I meet with, encourage, nurture, listen and pray for them, while also searching for others to minister to.

Pray for 1. I’d have tons of “God Connections” with people and 2. For me to be strong and wise as I serve healthy and hurting youth workers.

4x4x4x4 Prayer for NNYM/TX & NM

This group is committing to pray for 4 things, at least 4 minutes a day, for a minimum of 4 days a week for the 4 weeks in March.

1. National Network of Youth Ministries to meet their financial needs by April, 15, for the national ministry.

2. For Len Evans to receive $1,500 more per month in new giving by the end of March for this work with the NNYM in Texas and New Mexico. This would put us at 66% of our budget.

3. Pray for us to reach 100% of our support by September, our 1st anniversary of working for the NNYM.

4. For 500 prayer supporters for NNYM in Texas and New Mexico by the end of 2010.

January Prayer Update

Praise Reports:

January was filled with all kinds of good things. The trip to San Diego to meet with the NNYM ministry council and field team was great and encouraging in so many ways. My trip to Dallas resulted in more connections and my time with the charismatic youth workers was also a blessing. Thanks for your prayers that enabled those times to go well.

One of the best stories this month is someone joined my prayer team when I asked for people to join our prayer team via a tweet/Facebook status update. We met for the first time a week or so later and a week after our initial meeting we had lunch and they requested to become a financial supporter.

One of the highlights of January was having 11 people agree to become monthly supporters. Four of them have begun giving and the rest will also. We?re over 40% of our monthly budget and we need another $1,500 a month to reach the 66% level of our budget.

Prayer Requests:

* Albuquerque Road Trip is this week.

* New financial supporters

It?s so much fun to see God at work.

Prayer Update 1-9-10

It’s been a wonderful experience to be at the NNYM headquarters collaborating with our Ministry Council.

The NNYM Ministry Council is composed of youth ministry leaders from around the country who love our mission and are able to help guide us. It’s not a room of consultants, though some are and all could be in their area of specialty, but rather they speak into the leadership from their passions (The shared passions are unity with the Body of Christ, reaching more students with the Gospel, and youth ministry) without pushing their agendas.

Last night the second half of the trip began. This part is meetings with the Field Staff. The Field Staff oversee sections of the country or lead affinity groups for the country (Rural & Native American).

It is such a joy an honor to be here and serve with like minded people, who God has brought together, to help strengthen youth ministry across our country.

Thank you for praying for me and my family through this transition that is ongoing.

Keep on praying for this trip, because I know some of you are. The clarity and consensus is evident and I know it’s because God is with us in a way that only comes through prayer.

PS. Stupid West Coast time, I slept 5 hours and woke up at 3am. I read for a bit and thought I’d give you an update. Think I can go back to sleep now.

Prayer Update 1-5-10

I am confident that what I?m doing will not just help youth workers but help churches and advance God?s agenda for teenagers throughout Texas and New Mexico for now and more states later. My confidence is based not on my work but so far I?ve been able to catch the wave of God moving me to various places and to make connections that allow me to serve people in accordance to my wiring and strengths.

It?s a a crazy adventure to be on but one that I wouldn?t trade for the world. Thanks for being a part of this adventure through your encouragement, prayers and financial support. (The Frustrations & Joys of Ministry)
